On the left edge of the „Image Montage of the Narrowest Houses in Thuringia“ is the „Narrow House of Eisenach,“ followed by Weimar (3.50 and 5.27), Bad Frankenhausen (3.10), Arnstadt (2.30), Ohrdruf (2.50), Heiligenstadt (4.46), Bad Langensalza (3.20), Sömmerda (3.45), and Erfurt (3.50) – width given in meters.
In 2006, the „Thüringer Allgemeine“ sought the narrowest inhabited house in Thuringia.
The Narrow House of Eisenach, located at Johannisplatz, could not be surpassed.
It is probably the narrowest inhabited half-timbered house in Germany with a width of only 2.05 meters and a floor area of 20 square meters.
The height of 8.50 meters is distributed over two stories.
The estimated age is well over 250 years.
In 1974, the current owner acquired the building in a dilapidated state, restored it, and opened an exhibition with pictures, small sculptures, and historical furnishings.
