48 Town Hall in Pößneck
The small town of Pößneck has preserved its medieval character throughout the centuries.
The town became prosperous early on through cloth manufacturing and tanning, and today the historical citizen houses in the town center are a testament to this past.
The market square is particularly charming thanks to the town hall, which stands out with its colorful facade and high gable sides.
This interesting building, in the late Gothic architectural style with Renaissance influences, contains numerous decorative and architecturally exceptional details.
The town hall was built around 1500 and was lovingly restored just before the turn of the millennium.
On the eastern side, facing the market, the richly decorated, protruding staircase immediately catches the eye.
Both sides of the staircase lead up to the main floor, towards the town hall portal.
It is the true highlight of the building.
In addition to administrative offices, the town hall has housed the Pößneck City Museum since 1998.
In 2000, the city of Pößneck was a successful host of the Thuringian State Garden Show, which attracted numerous visitors.
