26 Knapp-Windmühle in Linda near Neustadt an der Orla
From a distance, the gallery-type windmill of the Knapp family in Linda can be seen rising in the upper region of the Thuringian Slate Mountains.
It is located in the well-known landscape protection area „Plothener Teiche“ and offers an impressive sight with its expansive wings.
The mill was built in 1813 by J. C. Kahle, burned down 50 years later, was rebuilt in 1867, and was declared a technical monument in 1978.
Since 1985, the mill museum has also served as a small arts venue.
Hans von der Mühle found his stage here, where local customs, songs, dances, theater performances, concerts, and lighthearted stories surrounding the mill are the heart of the mill evenings.
The atmosphere at the mill invites guests to join in, sing along, and be swept away—a memorable experience for everyone and a good reason to return.
There are tours, guided visits, and accommodations available on a camper van parking site or in the windmill’s „Windlieb Chamber.“
The large mill festival on German Mill Day attracts many visitors to the mill.
