21 Trusetal Waterfall

Nestled in a natural and picturesque setting, the Trusetal Waterfall has been attracting visitors with its unique spectacle since 1865.

Here, the Truse River cascades down 58 meters in multiple tiers. The waterfall was artificially created to control the wild waters of the Truse, which originates from the Inselsberg mountain.

After climbing approximately 200 steps alongside the waterfall, visitors are rewarded with a breathtaking view from the „Teufelskanzel“ (Devil’s Pulpit), extending deep into the Werra Valley.

Guided hikes, such as the „Around the Waterfall“ tour, offer visitors the chance to enjoy the refreshing coolness of the waterfall and the shade of the surrounding beech forests.

Well-marked hiking trails invite guests to explore the landscape around Brotterode-Trusetal.

Some embark on full-day tours, while others take a leisurely stroll from the waterfall to the Hühn visitor mine or simply relax and listen to the soothing sound of the rushing water.

Every July, the people of Trusetal celebrate the Waterfall Festival here.
