108 Schlossmuseum Arnstadt „Neues Palais“

Prince Günther I of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen commissioned the construction of the Princely Palace between 1729 and 1734.

The royal couple used this secondary residence to display their extensive art collections.

Today, the palace houses the Schlossmuseum Arnstadt.

Restored Baroque rooms showcase furniture and art treasures from the former princely collection.

The mirror and porcelain cabinet, preserved in its original condition from the time of construction, is particularly impressive.

The museum displays around 1,000 Chinese and Japanese porcelain pieces, mostly dating from around 1700.

The Baroque-era trend of drinking chocolate, tea, and coffee is evident in the collection, which includes 130 chocolate cups with saucers.

A unique highlight is the miniature town *Mon Plaisir* („My Pleasure“), a one-of-a-kind historical exhibit.

Featuring 391 figures and approximately 2,670 individual objects in 82 detailed scenes, it vividly depicts life in a small Thuringian royal residence during the Baroque period.

The exhibit offers glimpses into courtly life, as well as the everyday world of farmers, artisans, and even monastery life.

Most of the miniature scenes were created in the 1720s and 1730s.
